Message from the Chair

Your Executive Council for the Labor & Employment Law Section is very busy serving you, the Section, the Bar, and communities throughout the state. The Executive Council is made up of an equal number of plaintiff and management employment lawyers, and the Chair of the Section rotates between plaintiff and management each year. We do this to maintain a balance for all Section members who provide legal services to employees and employers in our great state.

Our Section also provides tremendous programs and services to our members. We co-sponsor the Annual Advanced Employment Practices program in January of each year. We also sponsor an annual Fall Update Seminar at a discount to Section members. And for our members, we have the invaluable quarterly newsletter authored by Professor Richard Carlson, which highlights important recent federal and state decisions and legislation.

We have a terrific website, which you have accessed if you are reading this message. It is one of the most advanced and helpful websites relative to other legal websites. The site has three fully searchable libraries available to members only, including access to our library of CLE articles, our library of Section newsletters, and our library of jury charges, all of which are routinely updated.

Finally, we serve our communities and our profession through a variety of programs, including pro bono funding, legal internships, and sponsorship of a law review writing competition that recognizes the best student-written articles on labor and employment law topics.

Our goal is to provide you great value for your membership in the Labor & Employment Law Section. We do this by volunteering to serve and we are always looking for other enthusiastic and diligent labor and employment lawyers to serve and volunteer with us. If you are interested in volunteering to serve on any of our committees, please do not hesitate to contact me.
